SEALCOATING FAQs

  • How long does it take to get an estimate?

You can expect to have your estimate in your hands within 1-3 business days.

  • I received my estimate and want to schedule. What should I do now?

If you received your estimate via text or email, you can approve it right from the estimate! If you received a paper estimate, you can either use the Contact Us form here on our site, email info@suburbansealcoating.com or call the office at 847-548-3440.

  • I approved my estimate. When will I be scheduled?

As we all know, the weather here in Illinois can be pretty unpredictable. As much as we’d like to give everyone a set date right from the start, it just isn’t feasible. We watch the weather very closely and schedule as early as we can. We always try to provide at least 2 days notice.

  • My driveway was sealcoated today. How long do I need to wait before I can drive on it?

We recommend waiting a minimum of 24 hours before driving on your newly sealed driveway. The longer it has to cure, the longer it will last!

  • When is the best time to have my driveway sealcoated?

This comes down to personal preference. Some customers prefer to have it done in the spring so they can enjoy a nice, black driveway during the warmer months. Some customers choose the middle of summer to avoid any risk of rain washout. Some customers like the end of the season to protect the asphalt from the winter elements. There is no right or wrong answer.

  • Should my driveway be sealcoated every year?

This varies from surface to surface. A newer driveway will absorb up to 40% more product because asphalt is a porous material. Until a good, solid layer of sealcoat is established, annual sealcoating is recommended. While annual service is beneficial, it isn’t always necessary.
